The classic black and red checkered wool hunting coat, or mackinaw, is such a timeless piece that it comes in many different guises. It is such a quintessential piece that whenever we can get our hands on a good one, we take it. Simply because they are all different in some way or other. This one is made by Johnson and comes from the second half of the 1970s. It is medium weight and has a nice shoulder construction that also functions as the top closure of the two breast pockets. There is a simple zipper operated 'poachers pouch' on the back. All in all a great easy going classic.
